What is Run For?
Run For is Sense’s virtual running event, taking place throughout February. Once you’ve signed up, you can set your own distance, your own pace and your own fundraising target – it’s all up to you. And the best part? You’ll get teamed up with one of the amazing children we work with and get sent regular inspiring updates from them and their families as your challenge progresses. It’s a great way to see just how the money you’ll be raising makes a difference to children’s lives!
How do I sign up?
It’s so easy! Simply set up your Just Giving page here and start recruiting your sponsors and logging those miles…
Is there a registration fee?
No, it’s completely free to register!
When will I find out who I’ve been matched with for Run For?
We’ll email you after you’ve completed your sign up to let you know who you’ve been teamed up with. It could be Ernie, Megan, Teegan or Remi – and all of them can’t wait to meet you!
Can I take part in a team?
When you complete your sign up, you will have the option to ‘Create or Join a Team’. Simply click ‘Create a Team’ and follow the steps given. Then you can share your team’s name with anyone else participating in the Run For challenge. Alternatively, if you’ve already signed up, you can click on ‘Edit Page’, select the ‘Team’ tab and create your new team from there.
Can I take part in a wheelchair?
Definitely. And you can either log your miles manually and add them by clicking on the ‘Log Fitness’ button when you sign in to your Just Giving account, or you can track your distance using Strava.
Fundraising
How much do I need to raise?
There’s no set amount but if you’re not sure, we recommend trying out a target of £150. This could pay for a child supported by Sense to have a virtual session with one of our specialist team, helping them develop their communication skills. You’ll also get an exclusive medal if you raise £150 or more!
How do I fundraise?
Set up your Just Giving page here, personalise it with a profile picture and a few words to describe why you’re taking on the challenge, and then share the link with as many people as possible!
How do I change my fundraising target?
Log in to your Just Giving account and you’ll see your fundraising goal near the top of the page. Simply click 'Edit Fundraising Page' and you will be able to update the amount on the next screen.
How do I pay sponsorship I have raised offline?
We recommend using Just Giving for your fundraising, but if you do get some offline sponsorship then just email eventsteam@sense.org.uk and we will send you the paying in details.
How do I get a free t-shirt?
Once you raise £20 of your fundraising target, we’ll send you a free running t-shirt to wear with pride whilst you’re completing the rest of your challenge. No need to notify us – we’ll know when you’ve reached the £20 checkpoint!
How do I get a medal?
If you raise £150 or more, we will send you out an exclusive Run For medal once you’ve completed the challenge! Again, no need to notify us – we’ll be in touch with you to let you know when your medal is on its way.
Where does the money I raise go?
It will be supporting children who are deafblind or living with complex disabilities. With your help we can continue providing them with the specialist help they need to learn, communicate and thrive in a way that's best suited to them. You can find out more about our work on the About page.
Tracking
Can I link to fundraising page to Strava?
Yes, you can! Just log in, head to your page and click on the 'connect Strava' button.
Can I log my activity manually?
Yes, that's also an option. Log into your Just Giving account and view your Run For page. You'll see a button that says 'Log fitness'; click that, add your miles and then save to update. Your miles will then be added to your page's distance total.
